Joelene English Dance Theatre, Alice: The Lost Chapter

Created by Joelene English Dance Theatre, Alice: The Lost Chapter was developed through a commission from Dance City and support from Arts Council England with previous support from Creative People and Places, Spin Arts and BAIT. Produced by Lissie Connor throughout the planning stages and tour, this production delves into the mind of Lewis Carroll with a ‘dark and twisted take on the classic, Alice In Wonderland.

The D Project, Hedge R&D

Created by The D Project Dance Company, Hedge undertook research and development, produced by Lissie Connor and support by Arts Council England and Dance City.
This production, for children aged 4+ and their families that combines the magic of dance with beautiful costumes, innovative props and puppetry to create an imaginative and atmospheric performance space for them to explore and enjoy.
Hedge welcomes children into a familiar world that is ever changing, exploring the story of a hedgehog waking up from hibernation and learning to be brave in the face of uncertainty.

The D Project, Solas Fae

Created for the delight of children and families together, this fun, magic and mischievous production shrouds the audience in magic and mystery. Lissie Connor supported the creative process concluding in a site specific performance.
The story begins with two sisters - Dove and Rae. This piece encourages the audience to experience the sound, smell and visuals as they become involved in helping the performers find ‘the light that hides in the dark’.

Fun In the Oven Theatre, Canary

Created by FITOT, Lissie Connor supported on management and marketing of this project across its regional tour.
‘This dynamic, refreshing and comical theatre performance presents a historical, and hilariously grotesque revelry to sing the unsung heroes of WW1. Meet the Canary Girls, a motley crew of munitions workers ‘doing their bit’ for the war effort.’
Combining surreal sound design real life archive testimonies and the universal language of clown, Canary takes you on a darkly comedic and visceral theatrical journey.

Live Cultural Events

DATevents provide creative bespoke services for live events and site specific art projects. They deliver a huge range of services on a huge range of events but front and centre of all our work is providing the bridge between the creative vision and practical realisation. Through their work DATevents strive to find solutions to even the most complex of briefs and havent yet found an idea that couldnt be realised.

DATevents, Freedom on the Tyne

Freedom on the Tyne was part of Freedom City, a wide cultural programme of events, performed across Newcastle to mark the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King receiving his honorary degree from Newcastle University.

With partnerships with Newcastle & Gateshead Initiative, Newcastle University, Northern Roots. Lissie supported DATevents as production coordinator partnered Northern Roots and Newcastle University to create this ambitious large scale outdoor event.
This event saw the whole city used as a stage, including mass performance participation from community groups with the option for the audience to follow different routes starting from all corners of Newcastle, each telling a story of freedom through history. This culminated in a finale performance on the Tyne Bridge where DATevents managed the production, rigging and staffing of a major light, sound and aerial spectacle.

DATevents, Lumiere Durham

Lumiere is the UKs largest outdoor lighting festival attracting huge crowds over 4 nights to view around 35 artworks involving a rage of medium including projection, sculpture, light, sound and performance.
DATevents who have worked with Artichoke on Lumiere, have provided production and technical management for the festival since 2009 and oversee the practical delivery of all the work including technical design of the site specific and commissioned project. Lissie Connor supported through DATevents as production assistant on 2017 festival.

DATevents, Live From Times Square

This inner city music festival promoted by SSD Music is spread across 2 weekends and sees a range of bands play to a capacity audience of 5000 people. DATevents provide production and site management for the concerts as well as acting as the event safety advisors. Lissie Connor supported as Production coordinator across this music festival which included live performance from The Libertines, Manic Street Preachers, Hacienda Classical, Brian WilsonJames.
